The Word Nandzu

The Word Nandzu

The Word

In the Xistonga language, the word “Nandzu” means trouble. Now you may be wondering, why would we take a wine soo good and soo pure and name it that!

Besides wanting to ignite an investigative interest in the minds of our customers, forcing them to want to know more about the brand, the story, and the wine, we have always believed that our troubles are the key to our successes which is why the name only makes sense!

When you hear the word trouble, your brain immediately thinks of something bad. The word has such negative connotations to it that finding anything positive around it is almost a nightmare. Meantime we all forget that for us to be who we are today, we went through a series of troubles that ALMOST defeated us but because we managed to stay strong and preserve, those Nandzus became our testimonies!

Nandzu - the perfect name for a great wine

The process grapes go through before becoming great wines is very similar to the journey we as humans go through while pursuing success.

The grapes are picked from the grapevine, where they are removed from their comfort zones and thrown into a world full of the unknown. A world where all hopes of future growth seem to be destroyed and the doors of opportunity have been shut completely.

Once all hope is lost, the grapes go through “crushing and pressing.” Be it by mechanical machines or by humans, the grapes are then crushed beyond repair, similar to how our troubles find us in times of weakness and try by all means to further destroy us!

Once crushed, the next stages are what bring out the true value carried by those grapes! Fermentation, Clarification, Aging, and Bottling, these 3 phases are often the most difficult to preserve but once done give us the fine wine we get to enjoy with those we value the most.

These stages, however, require a lot of time and patience, and often the longer they take the better the end result!

The typical story many humans get to experience. For us to be successful, we need to be pulled out of our comfort zones! For us to be strong we need to know that Nandzu will be there along our journeys, not to harm us but to make us strong. Lastly,  for us to see results, we have to trust the process and have the patience to stick it out even in the darkest of times

Nandzu - your reminder that good times are coming!
